West Webster VFD LODDs

On December 24, 2012, two volunteer firefighters were killed in the line of duty when they responded to a structure fire in the small town of West Webster, New York. The volunteers were responding as members of the West Webster Volunteer Fire Department. Two other volunteers were injured during the incident. The firefighters killed~

Mike Chiapperini,  was a Webster NY Police Lieutenant and Public Information Officer. He was off duty and serving as a WW Volunteer Firefighter. Mike had just returned from Long Island after being deployed for Super Storm Sandy. He had been named a Webster firefighter of the year two weeks before his death.







Tomasz Kaczowka was a 9-1-1 Dispatcher who was off duty serving as a WW Volunteer Firefighter. He graduated from high school in 2011 and was only 19 years old at the time of his death.He had been with the VFD for a little more than a year.  He previously was part of the explorer program.
